Making that first step to see a counsellor
can be very daunting. It is normal to feel apprehensive when you start counselling and there is no right or wrong thing for
you to say or do.
In the first session we will have the opportunity to discuss why you have
come, for you to ask any questions about counselling and to air any concerns you may have. This first meeting will allow you
to see whether you feel comfortable with me as a person. If at the end of the
session we decide to work together then we arrange a further 6 to 8 one-hour sessions, usually on a weekly basis. Towards the end of this period we review the work and discuss future plans.
A session lasts one hour if you are late for
a session then this counts as part of your hour.
